Design Overview and Workflow

Agencies

I work regularly with corporate in-house agencies, commercial advertising and design agencies. I'm very fluent in the environment and branding expectations in a variety of markets.

I also know the pressures that in-house and ad agencies are confronted with every day. I respect those and work inside your boundaries.

Branding, Integration and Cohesion

Whether I am subscribing to an existing graphics standard or creating a new one, branding is king. There is too much visual noise and schizophrenia in the marketplace. In fact, so much so that good branding is actually a relief to experience.

No Graphics Standards? Even if your organization doesn't have a Standards document, I proceed with design like there is one. Marketing items will look like they belong to a 'bigger picture". That's just part of making you look good.

Cross Media Preparation

Designing a single assignment in a vacuum just isn't a good idea. Anything created should be readily useable in medias other than print.

For example, logos I design for print will also translate well to Web and broadcast because I include those requirements from the start. Print documents are set up for .pdf files with hot links to specific pages in web sites or as a logical, self navigating document.

Workflow

Face time. Or phone time - getting to know your project and your audience is crucial for successful end results - the kind of real-world results that make you call me back for a second round.

Between your experience and mine, it shouldn't take too long. But I don't start on a project until there is a good understanding of scope. Top that off with progressive reviews and you'll be confident, and pleased with the results.

Good marketing and design isn't rocket science - just a common sense approach and process to "getting the word out."
